Every year millions of students compete for seats in prestigious engineering colleges such as Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology and other government and private colleges. Admission to these colleges is obtained through the Joint Entrance Examination, known as JEE, which is a national level engineering entrance examination, which is usually done every year in April for admission to various engineering courses, held on the first or second Sunday. About JEE Advanced:

JEE Advanced is one of the toughest competitive examinations in India, through which candidates are selected for admission to 23 IITs. JEE Advanced is operated by seven regional IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), a policy making body for admission to IITs. JEE-Advanced was earlier known as IIT-JEE.
